An Elementary Writing Curriculum

Weekly Wrap Up- The Come See Me Edition

We are well on our way to finishing up our school work for this quarter and taking a break in May!  Hooray!  We homeschool through the year on a quarterly schedule.  We should finish up by the second week of May and take two weeks off.  Then we will technically start back the first week of June, but the first two weeks are summer camps- Kidshine drama camp for Kathryne and Charles and Flag football camp for Charles.  So really, we will have four weeks off and then start back.

We are dropping subjects as we complete them now.  Kathryne wrapped up her spelling book this week!  I finished reading Little Britches as our literature unit read aloud.  The kids laughed at me as I cried my way through the last chapter of the book.  I am going to have them write book reviews to publish on my Good Reads blog next week.  Ashlyne and Rachel have finished up their penguin unit study with me this week.  We had begun the study by reading Mr. Popper's Penguins.  We then completed a penguin lapbook.   And we read Penguin Puzzle- a magic school bus book.

This week was our local Come See Me festival, a spring festival our town holds each year.  We participated in some of the events:
Monday, we went to the rock wall competition where Charles won two medals:
On Thursday evening we went to Broadway Night at Glencairn Gardens.  Local talent performs Broadway musical numbers while folks listen and picnic in the park.

On Friday, we finished up our school work for the day and then played with friends.

All in all a good week.  I am looking forward to finishing more work this week and moving closer to a break!

  1. That sounds like a good week! I cried when I read Understood Betsy. My oldest DD thought it was pretty funny too. That's okay, because I cry at everything my kids do too! I hope you all have a relaxing weekend!
