Weekly Wrap Up- The Camera Wasn't Working Edition

Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers is taking some blogging time off this week due to loss of a family friend.  I'm going ahead and posting our weekly wrap up because I am actually getting around to one this week.

Monday, we had a mostly normal day of school work and gymnastics.  I am continuing to love our Apologia General science.  We're studying simple machines.  I don't really remember too much about science from my school years- probably because it was one of my least favorite subjects.  So, I am learning and learning along with my children, and I think I probably enjoy it more than they do.  For history we are reading Animal Farm.  We had just broached the topic of socialism and communism in our time period of history, so I took a little detour to read this classic with the intent of discussing the symbolism with the older kids while the younger ones could just enjoy the fairy tale.

Tuesday, we went to play and visit with some dear friends we hadn't seen in a bit.  We all enjoyed ourselves, and the weather turned out beautifully for all of the kids to play outside.  In the afternoon, Kathryne had her drama class.

Wednesday, we had school work and then Kathryne had physical therapy.  Then we all headed to church.  After church, the kids went to Jason's mom to spend the night and the day on Thursday.  I picked them up Thursday afternoon to take Ashlyne to gymnastics.

Friday, we had a great field trip, but the camera didn't work!  We went to a corn maze.  It was over seven acres and 2.5 miles of trails.  It took us 2 and a half hours to make it through.  We all had a great time, but we were soooo tired.  I think I severely underestimated the complexity of the maze.

This coming week should be pretty normal for school, followed by a truly crazy week the first week of November.  After that, I am looking forward to some serious slowing down until after the holidays!

  1. The maze sounds fun! We did one last year, but my daughter asked that we not this year. She has somehow forgotten that we could have gotten out at any time and chose to continue. She thinks we were trapped. Maybe next year. Glad to hear you like General Science. I'm looking at that for next year.
