May 1, 2013- The Story of My Life (In 250 Words or Less)

Yes you read that button correctly. I am going to attempt to blog every day in the month of May. I'm not sure I can accomplish this, but Jenni at Story of My Life- who is hosting this event- promises that no blog police will come find me if I fail.  The fact that she is giving me a topic each day will help.  So here goes.

I am the youngest child in my family- by quite a bit. I have a sister that is 13 years older than I am and a brother that is 11 years older. I grew up in a Christian home. My dad was an accountant. We lived in Florida for a while as he taught at Pensacola Christian College and in Columbia, SC for a while when he taught at what is now Columbia International University. But for most of my life, I have lived in a mid-sized South Carolina town.  I went to a Christian school all of my life. My mom taught there most of my life. My plans had always been to go to Bob Jones University and major in education. But, my away from home college life was short lived, and I came back home and went to Winthrop University for the remainder of my college education. I could have been a perpetual student. I loved college. I ended up with an undergraduate degree in elementary education and special education and a master's degree in reading education. I married my best friend- Jason, whom I had met at Winthrop- during my senior year, and after graduation, I began teaching in the Christian school that I had attended growing up. After four years of teaching, I was pregnant with our first child, and I had a desire to stay home with her. In fact, I spent the better part of our first date away from her ( at a few months old) crying because I couldn't stand the thought of going back to work and leaving her. My wonderful husband said, "Who told you that you had to do that?' So, I stayed home, and we began planning to homeschool. I now have four children - ages 13,12,9, and 7- and we are still homeschooling. This will be the end of our 9th year. I love homeschooling with a passion. I also love blogging and doing product reviews and reading and reviewing books. I have a very tiny bit of time to pursue these interests in the midst of running four children to various locations.

I believe that that about sums me up in just slightly (100!) more words than 250. I did keep it all in one paragraph- as the topic suggested. I look forward to reading around and getting to know some other bloggers participating in this wild and crazy challenge.
