The Schoolhouse Expo: Coming Soon to a Living Room Near You!

I posted last week about a coming event that I am very excited about- the Schoolhouse Expo!

This is a live, in your own home, homeschool convention taking place on August 19-23.  There will be well-known homeschool speakers presenting workshop, door prizes, and a virtual vendor hall. And, if you can't make a live workshop, the workshops are all recorded, and these recordings are included with the cost of your ticket.

I was able to attend the Schoolhouse Expo a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. I love homeschool workshops, and it was great to be able to listen to them live without having to leave my house. Many of the speakers provided notes which I printed out and still have as a resource. And many of the vendors in the virtual vendor hall offer discounts as if you were at a physical convention.

I've already checked out the schedule of speakers and identified several I especially want to hear:

Dean Butler of Legacy Documentaries is going to be talking about Laura Ingalls Wilder and the Little House on the Prairie. I recently reviewed the DVD documentary and really enjoyed it, so I'm looking forward to this one.

We've enjoyed textbooks written by Jay Wile and by Diana Waring, so I'm interested in hearing their workshop- "Textbook Myths and How to Deal With Them"

Teri Johnson is presenting "Facing the Giant...Homeschooling Through Highschool." I have a homeschooler and one almost in high school, so I need to listen to this one.

I'll probably try to listen live to some of my favorite choices and then check out the recordings for some of the others. (Door prizes are only in the live sessions!)

You can read more about the Expo- including technology requirements- here by checking out the FAQ page.

And you can register for $24 by clicking here.

  1. I've loved going to "that other" homeschool convention both times I've gone. The idea of getting to listen on my time is awesome.
