In my life this week… Only a minimal amount of school was happening. Instead we were doing fun things like visiting Great Wolf Lodge for Snowland, participating in the church Christmas program and visiting the doctor for sore throats and sinus infections. (Although that last wasn't very fun.)
In our homeschool this week… We did complete part of My Father's World week 17. I combined some days and plan to do the same next week. I am determined that we will finish week 18 before we break for Christmas! I think we can do it. Historically we've moved on from the Fall of Rome and are talking about the Middle Ages. We;re reading about the ancient Celts and the Vikings. In Story of the World we read a cool abridged version of Beowulf.
Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share… Squeeze school in. I could have called this week a wash and took the whole week off. But, instead, we squeezed some school in and didn't waste the days we did have for some learning activities.
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing… We went to Great Wolf Lodge for Snowland! For the last few years we've enjoyed this as our local Great Wolf Lodge has hosted Homeschool Week in December. We've also enjoyed being their with some good friends. During Snowland, we get the regular waterpark passes, but we also get to see the lodge beautifully decorated for Christmas!
My kiddos favorite thing this week was… I'm pretty sure they would pick the Great Wolf trip. They really enjoyed our church's Christmas program too. But they were also pretty excited about our annual gingerbread house construction on Monday night. Hmm, there are too many good things to pick from!
Things I’m working on… I would really like to spruce up my blog header as I head into the new year. Maybe you'll click over one day and be surprised!
I’m grateful for… peace and quiet at night time. I feel like my days are rushing by in a blur- pretty typical for December- so I love the quiet of night time.
A photo, video, link, or quote to share (silly, serious or both!)…
