In my life this week... Preparing for Christmas and the beginnings of Christmas activities is in full swing. We began using our Advent wreath and Jesse Tree this week. I love the season of Advent, preparing for the birth of Christ. We haven't had time to put up our tree yet, but I'm hoping we will this week.

In our homeschool this week… We were on Week 16 of My Father's World. Ashlyne, Rachel and Charles and I continued to talk about Islam and the Muslin faith. They've had prayer cards that we've read to discuss aspects of Islam and ways to pray for the Muslim people. In conjunction we've been reading about the Arab conquests during the time following the fall of Rome.

I often don't get pictures of Kathryne doing her school work because she works independently, but I did get her this week. She is beginning a Proverbs project that will guide her through categorizing some of the verses in Proverbs.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing… On Wednesday, Kathryne and I were able to volunteer at the Operation Christmas Child distribution center. This was our second year to go with our homeschool teen group. It is a tremendous blessing to be a part of the sorting and shipping of the millions of boxes distributed to needy children all over the world.

The kids (most of them) and I were in our city Christmas parade yesterday. We walked with our church's arts academy. Ashlyne had a migraine and didn't get to walk with us. She was very disappointed. But the other kids and walked. The parade is very popular. There were tons of people. It's held at night, so all the lights on floats are beautiful. Often it's very cold. I was hoping it wouldn't be. With my fibrmyalgia, I have a hard time in the extreme cold. It turned out to be great weather, mild and no rain.

My favorite thing this week was… I had a Tastefully Simple party on Tuesday. I haven't done the home party thing in quite a while. But Tastefully Simple has some gluten free products now, so I wanted to have some friends over and maybe earn some freebies. We had a really, really good time. I had a nice group, and the food was good. We laughed and ate and partied.

My kiddos favorite thing this week was… On Tuesday we held our annual Gingerbread House Party for our science group. We use graham crackers and icing and candy. Part of the fun for the kids is eating all the candy. But they do make some cute houses.

Things I’m working on… I've some plans for my blog for the coming year. I'm trying to get some planning done so that I can be organized.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share (silly, serious or both!)…
