This week begins week 5 of reading through the Bible in 90 Days.

I've left the laws in the first five books of the Bible and headed into Biblical history this week. I read through Joshua as the Israelites established their presence in the Promised Land, through Judges as they felt in the cycle of sin, defeat, and victory; and I'm now in 1 Samuel. I'm reading about David and Saul and the beginnings of Israel's monarchy.

When the Bible is read in snippets or in devotionals we sometimes miss the fact that it is a history book. It's the rich history of God chosen people, the Israelites.

I love history so this is one of my favorite parts of the Bible. Reading the stories of Israel's history reminds us that God uses imperfect people and that He can work hard circumstances for His glory.
