It's so hard to believe that we are so close to Christmas! I cringe when someone tells me how many days are left. It seems that time is barreling along too fast, and there is still so much I want to do! We did regular school work this week. Next week we'll be doing a Christmas Around the World lapbook, and then we'll have two weeks off. Charles is far enough along in his regular school that he can take a break and do the special study with us, but it looks like Kathryne is going to be doing regular school work so that she can stay caught up.
What we're learning...
Ashlyne, Rachel and I are still in Europe in My Father's World. We've been reading about France and playing the geography game with the continent of Europe. This week we made models of the Eiffel Tower and made French hot chocolate.
Charles buckled down with his work and worked ahead this week. He went to a movie with Jason's mom on Tuesday.
What we're reading...
I've been reading some of my favorite Christmas read alouds to the kids- especially the younger girls. The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree is one of my favorites. I have yet to read it without crying.
I'm also reading the YWAM biography of George Mueller to the younger girls. I love the YWAM biographies, and this has been one of my favorite so far. George Mueller has always been one of my favorite missionaries, but I really knew little of his early life, so it's so interesting to learn!
Where we're going...
This week was our church's Christmas program- a walk through Bethlehem. Kathryne and Rachel were dancers with their praise and worship dance group. Ashlyne and I were workers at the dye shop, and Charles was a thief who spent most of the night peeking out of the jail around the Roman soldiers. It's lots of fun to be a part of this recreation of a typical Bethlehem market street.
What's on the blog...
In this week's abc blogging, I wrote about homeschooling with chronic pain- Encouragement for Homeschooling With Chronic Pain.
I also shared our graham cracker "gingerbread" houses that we made with friends- Christmas Crafting: Graham Cracker "Gingerbread" Houses.
What's coming up...
This coming week we'll be breaking from regular school to do a special Christmas Around the World lapbook.
I'm linking up with Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers and Home to 4 Kiddos for weekly wrap ups.
