Do You Need Strength and Encouragement as a Homemaker? Review of Strengthening the Heart of a Homemaker

Although I truly believe that being a homemaker is a high calling, I admit that there are days when being a wife and mom and managing a home causes me to feel weary and overwhelmed. Finding a way to keep up the house and make nourishing meals and listen and love on my kids all at the same time isn't an easy thing to do. So, when I had the opportunity to be a part of the launch of a brand new ebook- Strengthening the Heart of a Homemaker- I was very excited.

In the introduction of the book- which comes as a PDF file that can be read on a tablet or computer- the author Kristen Smith talks about the struggles of homemaking and points us to the source of our strength- Jesus Christ. She shares the need for reaching out in prayer and Scripture memory to tap into this source of strength.

Strengthening the Heart of a Homemaker is divided into thirteen sections, each of which covers a specific area of homemaking.

  • General Homemaking
  • Caring for Yourself
  • Health and Wellness
  • Food and Cooking
  • Pregnancy and Babies
  • Motherhood and Parenting
  • Marriage
  • The Homemaker's Faith
  • Faith for Children
  • Homeschooling
  • Finances
  • Working From Home
  • Special Events
Within each section, Kristen has included four Scriptures on which to focus. She has also included some questions to think on and one blank journal page with the category title. The journal page is a printable that can be printed as many times as needed to allow the reader to journal about the Scripture and the questions in that section. The Scripture cards are also printable and are beautifully designed so that they could be printed and displayed.

One of the great things about this resource is that it can be used in so many different ways. Kristen lists quite a few in the introduction and suggests that the reader can use the resource in any way that is most beneficial. It can be used with one section each month, doubling up or skipping on month, so that it is completed in a year. It can be used with one Scripture card each week- 52 total cards mean one each week for a year. It can be used to focus on certain areas that the reader wants to work on. And there are many other ways to use it.

I really liked constantly bringing the focus of the homemaker back to Christ and to His strength. Strengthening the Heart of a Homemaker truly is a resource that can give strength and encouragement to a weary and overwhelmed homemaker.

Strengthening the Heart of a Homemaker can be purchased on Kristen's blog site- Smithspirations for $7.95.
