Review of Pirate's Code: A Micky Matson Adventure

{This post may contain affiliate links.Read my disclosure here. }

I'm always on the lookout for family friendly movies that we can watch. It's sometimes difficult to find appropriate television and movies. Lately I've found some clean, good quality films produced by Pure Flix Entertainment. So I was happy to review another- Pirates Code: The Adventures of Micky Matson.

This film is actually the second film featuring teen Micky Matson. The first is The Adventures of Micky Matson and the Copperhead Treasure. You can learn more about both films here. Although I hadn't seen the first film, this one was easy to jump in and watch without feeling lost.

A review of Pirate's Code: A Micky Matson Adventure

The plot

An evil pirate- Admiral Ironsides- has taken over a merchant ship, along with his motley crew. The pirates have a new secret weapon that can destroy every electronic device on earth if deployed. Teen Micky Matson and his best friend Sully team up with other specially trained youth to fight against the pirate crew and save the earth. The kids, all with unique talents and abilities,  are a super hero force of sorts as they battle evil.

My thoughts

I'm always glad to find clean films that uphold our values and standards. Micky Matson isn't a perfect kid. And not everything that happens in the film is perfect. But, it is a film that I can feel good about letting the kids watch. And it's one I can feel comfortable having them share with friends.

Sometimes the action is a little unbelievable and the dialogue is a little corny. But overall, the movie has a fun, action filled story line. It's fast paced and can hold kids' interest. And it's filled with the sort of good versus evil that super hero fans will really enjoy.

If you have kids that like action/adventure stories, Micky Matson is a good choice. I'd like to see the first in the series as well. (And I think a third is planned.)
