Thankfully we seem to be settling into a school routine here. We've eliminated and cut back on some of our extracurricular activities for the fall, and we're actually enjoying having some nights at home together. Kathryne is settling into the routine of taking a co-op science class. And everyone is getting used to new books and new curricula. We've also had some family fun this week, including a baby shower this weekend. Here's a look at our week.
Rachel, Ashlyne and I are using Exploring Creation With Chemistry and Physics from Apologia. They (and I) love it because of all the hands on experiments. This week we took at look at Newton's laws of motion and did some experiments with inertia.
The younger girls are also working on French with Middlebury. This is a review we did last year as well and liked the program. It's a really good program, and I'm looking forward to reviewing it.
More hands on fun: Our Notgrass history book has some great projects. We read about Pocohontas this week, and the girls made a "Pocohontas Museum" with construction paper artifacts that had meaning for Pocohontas' life. They presented the museum to the big kids.
On Friday, I slept in for thirty extra minutes. Ashlyne brought me breakfast in bed. It was a rather nice way to end the week.
Today I headed to a baby shower. This is actually the second brand new baby we're welcoming. This baby is my nephew's. I took the younger girls who loved playing with their little second cousin.
It was a good week. I love settling into a routine, and, so far, we're enjoying our school work.
