Review of A Fragile Hope: A Beautiful Novel of Betrayal, Forgiveness and Love...And a GIVEAWAY

I was introduced to author Cynthia Ruchti last year when I reviewed her book As Waters Gone By. I loved the book, and it was one of those that was so beautiful that I was sad when I was through with it because it was over. I was very excited to have the opportunity to review Cynthia Ruchti's newest book, A Fragile Hope.

About the Book...

Josiah Chamberlain is a successful writer, speaker, and marriage professional. He knows everything about creating the perfect marriage and restoring a marriage that's struggling. But when his wife is involved in a car accident as she appears to be leaving him, he realizes that he doesn't know anything.

As Josiah's wife lies in a coma, he begins to realize some things about his marriage, but more importantly about himself. When he is truly vulnerable, he becomes aware that he definitely has much to answer for in the state of his marriage. He's been investing all his time into becoming a success instead of practicing the relationship builders that he's been teaching.

Throughout the book are themes of betrayal and forgiveness, as well as reminders of what is truly important in creating a marriage that will last.

My Thoughts...

As with As Waters Gone By, I found myself thoroughly absorbed in the book. It's one of those that makes me think about the characters and wonder what's happening when I'm not reading. I was tempted several times to add Karen, Josiah's wife, to my prayer list! (Hey, if you're a reader, you can relate.)

The characters throughout the book- Josiah, as well as secondary characters, are so well-developed that I truly felt as if I got to know them. There is lots of reflection and internal conflict and thoughts that go on inside Josiah's head. At times I almost felt as if it were too deep, and I had to step back for a minute, put the book down, and process. But that depth of inner thoughts and feelings is what makes the book so powerful.

This is Christian fiction. And there are important things that Josiah learns about himself and about relationships. Readers can see his personal spiritual growth throughout the book. But the book is never preachy, There are no "mini sermon" monologues. Instead there is authenticity in the way that Josiah struggles.

I loved, loved, loved this one. I can definitely recommend it. I give it five stars and a PG rating for content. You can find A Fragile Hope on Amazon here.
