Five Days of Classic Christmas Books and Activities for Kids

Hello. My name is Leah, and I'm addicted to Christmas books.

I've been collecting them since I was an elementary school teacher. My collecting ramped up when my first child was born over eighteen years ago. And I've since built up quite a collection. I also confess that I still love collecting Christmas picture books even though my youngest child is almost a teen.

In honor of my love of Christmas books, I'm sharing a five day series this coming week- Five Days of Classic Christmas Books and Activities for Kids. Each day I'll be sharing one of my favorite Christmas books, along with activities that you can use in conjunction with the book. I'm linking up with the iHomeschool Network where you can find a variety of Five Days...Christmas posts this week.

What can you do with this resource?

~ Use the five books and activities as a five day unit study leading up to Christmas break.

~ Have a Christmas story time where you read one of the books and do the accompanying activities.

~ Read one book and do the activities each week in December leading up to Christmas. (This can work really well if you use a four day homeschool week because you can use Fridays as a relaxed day and read a Christmas book.)

What books can you expect?

~ The Nutcracker by Susan Jeffers- a beautiful picture book based on the classic ballet...Find the post here.

~ The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree by Gloria Houston- a sweet, touching story set in the Appalachian Mountains- Find the post here.

~ The Legend of the Poinsettia by Tomie dePaola- a picture book version of the Mexican legend of how the poinsettia came to be by one of my favorite children's authors- Find the post here.

~ The Wild Christmas Reindeer by Jan Brett- a sweet, humorous story about a girl's attempts to get the reindeer ready for Christmas- Find the post here.

~ A Christmas Carol by Adam McKeown- a picture book version of the classic to share with younger kids- Find the post here.
