Happy Mothers Day and Pictures from the Children's Choir Program

Happy Mother’s Day to all my blogging buddy moms!

My day began with Kathryne bringing breakfast in bed, complete with flowers on the tray and a card. It was so sweet. Last night, Jason surprised me by arranging for his brother to babysit and taking me out. We went out to eat and to the mall, and we even stayed out past bedtime! The big kids were part of that too. They helped bedtime go smoothly for the little girls, so we didn’t get any emergency calls telling us we had to come home!

After breakfast today, I had to head out to church to teach Sunday School, but the kiddos all stayed home with Jason. He worked all day yesterday, so they hadn’t had lots of Daddy time. When I returned, Jason had cleaned up the kitchen from breakfast, and all the children were fed and happy. What more could a mom ask for?!

I looked around for a poem to stir and inspire for Mother’s Day. I found a great site here with lots of beautiful Mother’s Day poems. But, my favorite is one I had read from a friend on a web board, and I was so thankful to find it again at this site. It reminds me how valuable my job as a mother is and how very blessed I am to have these children! As Jason reminds me, “I’m livin’ my dream!”

Dear Lord, it’s such a hectic day
With little time to stop and pray
For life’s been anything but calm
Since You called on me to be a mom
Running errands, matching socks
Building dreams with building blocks
Cooking, cleaning, and finding shoes
And other stuff that children lose
Fitting lids on bottled bugs
Wiping tears and giving hugs
A stack of last weeks mail to read
So where’s the quiet time I need?
Yet when I steal a minute, Lord
Just at the sink or ironing board
To ask the blessings of Your grace
I see then, in my small one’s face
That you have blessed me
All the while
And I stop to kiss
That precious smile

So quick those tiny babies grow to be big kids. Kathryne and Charles both had parts in the cast of our children’s choir musical this year- Makin Room. Kathryne was a hostess, and she and her best friend (the other hostess) got all dressed up for the big event. She was so grown up. Here are a few pictures of the program:
