Discovery Place Field Trip

Leah Courtney

Discovery Place, our local science museum, opened a new exhibit over Thanksgiving weekend- Cool Stuff. We made good use of our membership and went today with another homeschool family to enjoy. I learned that Monday is a GREAT day for field trips. There was only one school group there. Monday field trips- especially on the Monday after a vacation - are not popular.

The kids enjoyed the Pirates and Shipwrecks exhibit, which we had see before, and the new Cool Stuff exhibit, which included a bed of nails, an air cannon, various pulley machines, and other "cool" science. They explored the new lab room where they completed challenges. And Charles was an assistant in the Glow show where we learned about different kinds of light and discovered what objects glowed under black light.

All in all, it was a fun field trip day.
