Weekly Wrap Up: So Hard to Get Back Into It

After a long Thanksgiving week where not very much in the way of school was accomplished, we had a really hard time getting back into the swing of things this week.  It probably didn’t help that on Monday we took another day off and went to visit some homeschool friends we hadn’t seen in a while.

We did finally get into school mode, and looking back, we actually accomplished quite a bit.

Ashlyne and Rachel and I have been studying the moon in our astronomy course.  We made the moon phases with oreos.  Of course we enjoyed eating the extras.

On Thursday Kathryne and I volunteered at the Operation Christmas Child processing center.  After all the years we’ve done shoe boxes, I have been waiting and waiting until I had a child who was 13 and old enough to volunteer with the homeschool teen group.  We had such a wonderful time!

On Friday night, Ashlyne walked in the Christmas parade with other team members from our gym.  We hadn’t been to the parade in years, so it was fun to watch.  And it ended up being pretty mild that night, so we weren’t freezing.

Next week we are going to begin a Christmas unit study.  We’ll do that, along with everyone’s regular math and literature, through December.
