Weekly Wrap Up: So Hard to Get Back Into It

After a long Thanksgiving week where not very much in the way of school was accomplished, we had a really hard time getting back into the swing of things this week.  It probably didn't help that on Monday we took another day off and went to visit some homeschool friends we hadn't seen in a while.

We did finally get into school mode, and looking back, we actually accomplished quite a bit.

Ashlyne and Rachel and I have been studying the moon in our astronomy course.  We made the moon phases with oreos.  Of course we enjoyed eating the extras.

On Thursday Kathryne and I volunteered at the Operation Christmas Child processing center.  After all the years we've done shoe boxes, I have been waiting and waiting until I had a child who was 13 and old enough to volunteer with the homeschool teen group.  We had such a wonderful time!

On Friday night, Ashlyne walked in the Christmas parade with other team members from our gym.  We hadn't been to the parade in years, so it was fun to watch.  And it ended up being pretty mild that night, so we weren't freezing.

Next week we are going to begin a Christmas unit study.  We'll do that, along with everyone's regular math and literature, through December.

  1. Looks like a great week! I just love the oreo moon phases! :-) How wonderful that your daughter has a servant's heart and helped with the shoeboxes. It warms my heart to see children her age performing such acts of service. We're going to be doing the Christmas unit study for Advent, as well! Happy Belated Birthday! I hope it was happy. Many blessings, Lisa http://our4kiddos.blogspot.com

The Christmas parade looks like it was a lot of fun. Yea for your family being a family of service to the community. Looking forward to reading about your Christmas studies. Thank you for sharing.

  3. I love the new blog look! We just studied moon phases as well. I love the cookie idea. We were supposed to look at the moon each night and well, it been raining. I think we will see the moon tonight.

  4. Thank you. We were supposed to chart each night also, but I knew we would forget. So I printed a monthly moon view chart from online, and we tried to remember to check it now and then. :-)

Thanks for stopping by. I love comments or questions, so be sure to tell me what you think.
