Awesome Science: Explore Yosemite and Zion National Parks

The kids and I watched and reviewed one of the Awesome Science DVDs- The Grand Canyon- previously.  The kids weren’t incredibly impressed, but I thought the video was very well done and informative.  I was glad to be able to get a look at another Awesome science video- Yosemite and Zion National Parks.

Noah Justice and his family produce this science series together.  Noah presents the scientific information about some of these amazing geological places, focusing on creation and a belief in the young age of the earth.

In this installment Noah shows some of the geological features of Yosemite National Park and Zion National Park and points out how these features support a belief in a young earth and a worldwide, catastrophic flood.  Noah is very knowledgeable about the subject matter.  The pictures of the places and the features that Noah is referring to are interesting.  I really appreciate that over and over the kids are hearing that science supports the account of creation in the Bible and that science and a literal interpretation of the Bible really are compatible.

Unfortunately the kids don’t particularly think the Awesome Science DVDs are awesome.  Perhaps it is because none of my children are particularly science people.  None of them would choose science as their topic of pleasure.  There is quite a bit of information given in a short amount of time in this DVD, and I think that may make it less than appealing to the kids.

As a mom and a teacher, I liked the video as a science supplement.  It reinforces everything we read and learn in our science curriculum (from Apologia).  It offers something different than just reading the text.  And the study guide included with the video helped to tie the information from the DVD together.

I can really see these Awesome Science videos being a favorite of any kid who is a science buff.  And they are great once in a while supplements for any science curriculum.

I received a free copy of the DVD and study guide in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
