I only finished one book this week, and it really wasn’t much to post about. So I thought I’d bring in a past favorite for you this week.
Code Name Verity
is a young adult historical fiction set during World War 2. It contains a journal from “Verity” as she is forced to write while in captivity. She’s been captured because of work on secret codes, and her captors are determined to get information from her that will help them crack codes.
It’s a very deep and thoughtful book. Although it is written for young adults, parent should be aware that some very dark themes surface. The time period was a dark one indeed. I loved the read, however. I was swept up in it pretty quickly, and I didn’t want to come to the end.
