With the advent of the Kindle and other ereaders, buying more and more children's books has been easier- and cheaper. There are quite a few children's classics available for free or very inexpensive. Here are nine great read alouds that are under $3 for Kindle. (Always check prices before you buy in case Amazon changes things.)
