This Week@ As We Walk Along the Road: Back to the School Routine and Fall Is In the Air

After last week's vacation at the beach, I was ready to get back into a routine. I have to admit that I loved the days of relaxing and waking up with nothing more to do than lay around and read or go do fun things. And it's always nice to feel a little freedom from the normal routine. But too much of that, and I'm craving a routine. I think this vacation we had just the right amount of break time!

A look at our week in homeschool and family

One thing I really missed on vacation: this sweet puppy face. Tell me you don't just want to squish those floppy cheeks.

All games in our house seem to go through cycles. People will play and play and then go for months without playing or playing rarely. Just Dance has become an extremely popular game around here again. It's not unusual to have most of the Crew- including Daddy- dancing in the living room.

I received several great review items in the mail this week. I have some wonderful reviews coming up here at the end of the year, and I'm really excited about all the packages that have been arriving. This is from Koru Naturals. I reviewed with them last year and love their emu oil products. I have three different things to review this time.

One of my favorite things about homeschooling is that when one child is studying something fun or doing a fun experiment, all of us can get in on the action. Kathryne did the egg osmosis experiment for Marine Biology. She cared for this little egg all week, soaking him in various solutions. The rest of us liked keeping up with what was happening with him.

The weather took a decided turn toward fall this week. It was much cooler and rainy all week. I'm not looking forward to fall. I love spring and summer and warm weather and days that stay light later. I am not a fan of cold and rain and short days with early dark. It was cold enough to encourage hoodies this week, so I guess I must accept the fact that it's coming.

This week looks to be a blessedly normal and calm one. School is fun right now with some of the reviews I have going on, and we are in a better routine this fall because we don't have so many extracurricular activities. This week on the blog I'll be sharing the Poppins Book Nook book club post as well as this month's Homeschooling High School Blog Hop post. I'll also share some of the coming reviews.

I'm linking up to Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers and Week In Review at Home to 4 Kiddos.

  1. Vacations are wonderful! Your dog looks just like our dog, except our dog has a black nose, and no, I can't resist that face either! I love that your husband is so willing to participate in even a dance game.I am not so sure that my husband, as wonderful as he is with the kids, would do that! LOL I completely agree with you about the whole family learning about each person's projects. In the end, we all study the same topics to keep all the discussions going. I am following you now and looking forward to seeing more about your schooling and your reviews.

  2. I definitely find that breaks make us appreciate routine more!! And feel free to link up with us at :)

Thanks for stopping by. I love comments or questions, so be sure to tell me what you think.
