Begin a New Christmas Tradition With Love Letters From God

I’ve shared recently about my love for Christmas stories. Over the years I’ve collected Christmas stories based on television characters, old-fashioned Christmas stories, children’s classic Christmas stories, and Bible-based Christmas stories. But I’ve recently reviewed a unique Christmas story for children- Christmas Love Letters from God.

This Christmas book written by Glenys Nellist and illustrated by Rachel Clowes contains seven Bible stories that relate to the birth of Jesus. Each of the seven stories contains…
  • A Scripture reference and a summary of the Bible passage indicated
  • A rhyming segment
  • A Bible verse with “God’s Perfect Promise”
  • A lift-the-flap Love Letter from God that addresses the reader (There’s even a blank for you to write the child’s name.) and makes application from the Bible passage
  • Colorful illustrations that look three-dimensional because they include objects and layered paper illustrations on the colorful backgrounds
The love letters are the truly special part of this book. There are many books that relate the Biblical Christmas story to children, but the love letters bring a way for kids to apply each part of the story to their own lives.

This book could easily become a part of a tradition leading up to Christmas day. Each day, parents could read aloud one section of Bible passage, rhyming segment, Bible verse promise, and love letter. When my kids were younger, they would have loved the opportunity to take turns lifting each flap as we read the love letters.
There are several things that I really love about this book.
~ I love that the actual Scripture reference is given for each story. When you’re using the book with kids of multiple ages, older siblings can actually read the Scripture passage from the Bible.
~ I love that the information is presented in a variety of ways. Do you have only really young children? Just read the simple rhyming passage and sum up the love letter. Other children may have the attention span to listen to the full story and letter each time.
~ I love the way that the book presents the big story of Christmas broken down into shorter stories that can be used as family devotions.
~ I love that there is a Bible verse given with each story. If you’re reading and rereading this book- as I’m sure younger children will want to- kids can memorize each verse.
~ I love the illustrations. I’m not usually one to notice illustrations. Art isn’t my thing. But I love the three-dimensional layered illustrations, and I’m sure they’ll capture the attention of kids of all ages.
This truly is a book you’ll want to make a new part of your Christmas traditions. You can win a copy in the giveaway below.
