This classic is often a television special during the Christmas season. But it's also a great book to read with the kids.
The Night Before Christmas
The classic poem has been interpreted in a variety of children's books, but my favorite is the one illustrated by Jan Brett.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
This is another classic that you can often find on television during the Christmas season. But the classic Dr. Suess book is one you can't miss.
The Little Drummer Boy
This classic Christmas story has been made into a beautifully illustrated picture book by Ezra Jack Keats.
The Legend of the Candy Cane
When I was really little, my grandmother used to tell me about the candy cane each Christmas. She would point out the symbolism of the colors and shape and how this candy pointed the way to the real meaning of Christmas. I never knew that the story she told was an actual book until I was much older and found this book.
Oh, Yeah! We've never outgrown our Christmas picture books in this house! And Jan Brett! Yes!
ReplyDeleteI just say I'm saving them for the grandkids. :-)
DeleteWe love the Legend of the Candy Cane, the Grinch, and the Night Before Christmas. I try to mix in old favorite and new stories each year.
