I’m a pushover for dogs. I admit it. I’m the owner of a very spoiled pup. So, of course, when I saw a book about the life of Christ through the eyes of dog, I was on it.

The Dog Who Was There: Review
I loved it. I really loved it. At first, I wasn’t sure I was going to like the simplistic writing style. But after all, the story is told through the eyes of a dog. And the author does a good job of sticking with Barley’s point of view for the most part. Occasionally he threw in part of scene that came more from a human’s point of view. But the majority of the book is written through Barley’s eyes.
I think the fact that the book is from Barley’s point of view made some of the touching parts even more touching. When you’re imagining the scene from the eyes of this poor dog who can’t understand fully what’s going on, the emotions are even stronger.
I know it was a good book when I come to the end and am sobbing. The Dog Who Was There passed the test.
This is one I can whole-heartedly recommend- especially if you’re a dog lover. You can find it on Amazon here.
